NHL Must Force FanDuel's 7 Affected Teams to Announce Broadcast Plans Before Playoff Tickets Go On Sale
Seven NHL teams — including fans of the Hurricanes, Red Wings, Lightning, and Panthers — are about to lose their local broadcast network in April with no confirmed replacement for October. Season-ticket holders are being asked to renew their $5,000+ packages without knowing where or how they'll watch road games next year. That's not a business arrangement — that's a hostage situation.

Background
FanDuel Sports Network shuts down in mid-April 2026 after parent company Main Street Sports Group failed to secure a buyer. Unlike the NBA, which is actively planning a centralized streaming alternative, the NHL has been conspicuously silent. The Anaheim Ducks successfully transitioned off a collapsing RSN in 2025 by partnering with Victory+ and local over-the-air station KCOP-TV within months — proving it can be done fast.
The Ask
Require all 7 FanDuel-dependent NHL teams to publicly disclose their 2026-27 local broadcast plan — platform, price, and over-the-air option — no later than June 1, before 2026-27 single-game tickets go on sale.
